Abstract: A brief history of thermal metamaterials from 2008 to 2018 is presented. For this purpose, I choose 24 papers in chronological order on the new physics and applications of the field, and also point out some of the humanistic aspects. I hope this paper can help the reader to quickly understand the whole field as well as its future trends.
