Abstract: Recent progress on BN nanotubes is reviewed briefly. The structure of BN nanotubes and the development of synthetic technologies, including arc discharge, arcmelting, laser ablation, ball milling, carbon nanotube substituted reactions and chemical reaction methods are described. The mechanical and electric properties of these nanotubes are discussed, and the prospects for application and future development are outlined.
