Abstract:
Progress in the application of high temperature superconducting (HTS) microwave devices and subsystems have been achieved worldwide as well as in China. Recent developments in high performance HTS filters at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences will be reviewed; among these filters some showed excellent specifications in, for example, fractional bandwidth (narrower than 0.25%), return loss (less than -22.5dB), skirt slope (greater than 140 dB/MHz), and out-of-band rejection within a certain frequency band (deeper than 110dB). Mechanical qualification tests for satellite applications of HTS filters, satellite-to-ground microwave receivers with a HTS front end, and field tracking of meteorological radar with a HTS subsystem will also be described, all the first of their kind in China.
