Abstract:
We report our recent theoretical studies on kinetic anisotropy-induced ordered-orientation transitions in epitaxial growth. As an example, we have calculated the epitaxial growth of CoPt alloy films on a Pt buffer layer. We show that the ordered structure of the CoPt film changes from the L10 [001] variant to the L10 [100] variant with the increase of growth rate at moderate growth temperatures. Based on this mechanism, we propose a simple method to synthesize ordered-orientation superlattices.
