Abstract: An introduction to the role of laser warning on the battlefield is presented, with an overview of the principle, required specifications and classification of laser warning devices. Specific types are described, including those devoted to spectrum recognition, coherent recognition, and scattering detection, and their properties compared. Finally, future developments of laser warning technology are discussed.
